（一）都是人嘛
记者：我们这几个都是您的影迷。
田：胡说八道！我哪有什么“迷”啊，我又不是演员。当演员好啊，还能泡妞呢，呵呵。
记者：您先说说那部尚未通过的片子吧，当时怎么就给压下来了呢？
田：其实当时哪个领导看了都说没问题，但哪个领导也都不说这个片能通过。 其实这个心态挺正常的，我觉得。 他不愿意替你顶着雷，但是呢，他也觉得你没说假话。
记者：为什么拍那么一段历史故事？
田：我觉得中国啊，真正出现潜在危机应该是49年建国后的17年（1949-1966），而不是在文化大革命，文革只是在这一积累下的大爆发，实际上是个高潮，也是个收场戏。而这17年的事，几乎没什么人好好拍，当时这么一寻思，就想拍点。正好我也是成长在这个时期的嘛。
记者：后来10年拍不了电影，感觉痛苦吗？
田：凯歌不是讲了吗：“我觉得壮状有点壮丽色彩啊！”，凯歌他是摆明了恶心我–什么壮丽啊，他说的那壮丽，就是哑巴挨干，硬挺呗。
记者：您觉得现在电影人是顾虑太多了些吗？
田：其实现在干好多事都有顾虑，顾虑这东西怎么来的呢？这人啊，适者生存，你老得去适应环境，就像动物的保护色一样，长年累月就形成了。想想咱以前拍电影是说：“想不想拍”， 现在你得想“通不通的过”，这样一下差太多了，你原始的创作冲动老被浇冷水，这电影出来没法好看。
记者:问题出在哪呢?
田：这话可能不太对啊，我觉得这事儿从根上说，是由于当年毛在延安文艺座谈会关心文艺的成长，使它成了一个意识形态上很重要的问题。当时来讲这是对的，文艺是鼓舞人，教育人。 但是到了经济发展时期它不成了， 文艺应该是娱乐人，安定人的。它应该从宣传品的形态转变为娱乐形态，寓教于乐，但是我们上面一直就没转过来。
（二）姜文，缺一个好剪辑
记者：您对国内导演怎么看，包括第五代和第六代？
田：在我们国家，大家老是说，有两个东西没法看，一个是足球，一个就是电影。 我特别同意，真是的，看了就窝火。我们这一代，加上第六代一起来算，我觉得真正能够属于好的电影导演的只有一个人：姜文，这你得相信我。我可是一个很好的评论家，不是一个很好的导演。我自己想的太多了，我喜欢电影，我十年不拍戏的时候，用这冷眼看。
记者：姜文好在哪？大家可是没少捧他。
田: 姜文的优点在于，他是那种没学过电影，但是对电影这种艺术方式有感觉的人。现在的中国电影把许多电影的特性都忽略了。经常有人骂美国好莱坞的电影，但好莱坞恰恰是把这种电影语言运用的最纯熟的地方，比如[指环王]，不管你爱不爱看，[指环王]给你展示出来的影像是电影本身的，不是小说里的，也不是话剧里的，而对这个东西，姜文有特别好的嗅觉和敏感度。
就是说，他能找到很多用电影语言来叙述故事的方式（参见索德博格谈[鬼子来了]的最后一组镜头，让他大为激赏。） 而这可不是每个导演都能做到的事。 我知道，但我不一定能做；或者说我做了，做的也不成功，不如姜文做的那么好。
但姜文也有一个问题，缺一个好剪辑，他太喜欢保护自己付出劳动后得到的东西，这是他的缺点。跟他干活的人肯定是好的，很辛苦，跟他一起付出的人，该保护，这没问题。 但很残酷，作为一个作品来讲，不是所有的东西最终都适合放在里面。姜文能把这个问题解决了，至少可以是亚洲最顶级的导演！我喜欢这小子！
记者：拍电影的确需要天赋。
田: 是啊，这种天赋，不是靠电影学院的老师能教会的，也不是说他拍了30部电影你就能会了，不可能！ 没有天赋，拍不出好电影。我觉得电影没那么好拍的也就在这，其实你很难找到一个用你自己独特方式来表达的东西，等你好不容易找到了，在我们这种环境下，又不能拍，又通不过，这就比较痛苦了。
这十年国内电影没的看的原因就在这， 电影改大鼓书了，要不改相声了，像冯小刚的[大腕]啊什么的，基本就是这类型！电影本身的东西都不见了，也就不能称之为电影了。 好多人迷电影，就是迷最外层的东西，不是迷那里面的东西。姜文不错，老谋子的[红高粱]还有点意思，后来就不行了。
（三）别都奔着旷世之作去
记者： 这些年刘恒的小说越来越生活化，而且他和国内的电影人的合作和关系也挺密切。
田：他的小说我是很喜欢，而且我们也是好朋友。 但是我觉得刘恒的所有东西，除了谢飞的[本命年]以外，他所改的电影，只对电影有毒害，而没有任何帮助！
记者：啊，为什么？
田:他把电影只理解成故事啊，这问题就大了。你细看这些年的主流电影，从剧本上来讲，文学的东西太多了，过多了。
记者:您觉得现在的中国电影是不是缺少一种和文字读物相对的图片杂志式的电影呢？
田：我觉得咱们一直缺，就是那种漫画式的，可以看完就扔的消费品电影，我们拍电影有时候认真过头了，“我这就是艺术”，不管什么都是艺术，其实艺术也是消费品啊，别都奔着旷世之作去。
（四）忧患意识是个挺傻冒的事
记者:您这一代人心事都重，原来以为您是其中最重的，可没想到您简直是豁达大发了。
田:其实经过文革的人会有一种忧患意识，其实这是个挺傻冒的事，你一个人能干嘛啊，能解决什么问题？
记者:听说您02年重新出山拍[小城之春]时，抱着机器大哭一场？
田：有几次我是挺激动的，不过这跟十年没拍戏没多大关系。主要还是因为人，我这人帮别人挺乐意，别人帮我的时候，我就挺不落忍的。你看什么阿城，李屏宾，叶锦添，李少红，小宝他们这帮人，还有好些演员，好多年前跟我一块做事的朋友，都主动跑来帮我的忙，我觉得挺感动。
刚开拍时，预算非常之低，好多人真的是看你这人不错，我愿意帮你这忙，我心里特别的歉疚。 20年前咱们都不为钱做事的时候可以， 现在这样的环境，我觉得周边还有挺真情的东西在，挺感动。
记者：最近几年拍电影的感觉又回来了吗？
田: 是这么回事，人有时候非常需要制造一个单纯的空间，你不会被任何事情打扰，专心的做一件你喜欢的事情。 像我这么一个人，拍了很多次电影的一个人，每当你听到你最好的那些朋友们又开始拍新电影的时候，而自己没的拍，还是很难受。 去现场就更难受。
当年李安拍[卧虎藏龙]的时候，我去看他，他还埋怨我：“我难得在北京拍戏，你也不多来看看我”，我当时就觉得，你丫的，叫我看你？你丫多幸福啊，这么多人那么单纯的呆在摄影棚里安静的等你使唤，喊预备开始呢！别人连屁都不敢放（笑）， 所以我觉得我还是得重新拍电影。
